The Build Programme
Who is Build for?
Specially developed for new entrants to the construction sector, Build provides support and information for those preparing to gain work experience, training, an apprenticeship or new role in the industry. We work with schools, colleges, individuals and employers to provide bespoke support.
This programme is suitable for those in education, unemployed, underemployed, or people who have taken a career break for 3 months.
How does it work?
Build is a 3-month programme provides support from someone with experience in the sector to help their mentee better understand the opportunities available in construction, property and the built environment, helping them with:
- Careers advice
- Preparing and developing a CV
- Job applications
- Career planning
- Getting ready for interview
How can you get involved as a mentor?
We are seeking mentors from a range of construction and built environment backgrounds to join our volunteer mentor pool. From gas engineers to surveyors and project managers, if you have the enthusiasm and commitment to support an individual seeking training or work then get in touch - we would love to hear from you.
We are currently seeking mentors for workshops in Lambeth, to be held on the mornings of the 27th and 28th June 2018 (more dates to follow).
We are looking for:
- Two people with electrical installation/ engineering/ heating and plumbing experience
- Two people with carpentry/ joinery experience
- One person from the decorative trades
- Two people with general building/ bricklaying/ experience
