Architect with construction delivery experience | Studio Bark | London & West Midlands
We are seeking an experienced architect with demonstrated project delivery and contract administration experience. Will also consider applications from experienced technicians or technologists.
Studio Bark
Established in 2014, we are a dynamic and highly-motivated practice focusing on environmental design and construction. We are signatories to Architects Declare and the RIBA 2030 Challenge. Studio members are also involved in Architects Climate Action Network (ACAN) and tackling the climate and ecological crisis is top of our agenda.
Our workload ranges from domestic scale extensions and retrofits, to bespoke homes and arts-based installations. We are involved in education, live-build projects and research. Our sister company U-Build evolved out of a previous research and development initiative focussing on self-build modular construction for the circular economy. We have a number of significant projects coming to site in the near future with exciting opportunities for a new team member to play a significant role in delivering these.
We have worked hard over the past few years to establish a positive studio culture and forward-thinking ways of working. Some Bark benefits:
Flexible working policy + alternate nine day fortnight with the final day split equally between upskilling/training and free time
Shareholding/buy-in opportunity reviewed after two years
Health and dental insurance
Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
Rural studio based in the West Midlands (for periodic retreats or time working in the countryside)
Opportunity to be involved in summer live build educational programmes
Competitive salary based on experience - (referenced to RIBA salary guide)

The Candidate
We are seeking an experienced, technically-astute individual who is capable of working in a proactive and self-managed way. The successful candidate will be diligent, highly organised and revel in the trials and tribulations of project delivery.
This opportunity could really suit someone who is looking to move sideways from a more conventional practice; or seeking to place concern for climate and environment at the centre of their work.
We are looking for someone who shares in our ethos and passion, to join our tight-knit studio as we embark upon the next phase of our growth. We are seeking someone who can make a commitment to participate in the development of our practice over the long haul.
