Architecture Foundation | Young Trustees | Open Call Application 2025

Architecture Foundation Young Trustees Open Call Application 2025

We are excited to announce an open call for new Young Trustees to join our existing members!

Our manifesto:

The Young Trustees is a group of built environment workers that actively champions emerging and underrepresented voices from within, and beyond, the built environment. We facilitate a platform that centres and celebrates new and critical narratives through an inclusive and accessible programme. We unlock new forms of discourse to reimagine definitions and challenge ourselves to be constantly reflective. We hold space to celebrate diverse experiences, empowering others to become agents of meaningful change within the(ir) built environment. We aim to strengthen and grow a network who campaigns with us for the conversations that matter. Not the ones that are supposed to. We are the Young Trustees, the naughty side of the Architecture Foundation.

The role: This voluntary role involves working with other Young Trustees to develop and deliver a range of initiatives. It will also be a chance to work with the Architecture Foundation's (AF) core staff team and trustees, playing an increasingly important role in the AF's programme. It also provides a platform to explore new formats for contributing to architectural culture. Most importantly, the role is defined by those who wish to take it on, celebrating the opportunity for candidates to demonstrate agency. Candidates should be enthusiastic and engaged, with ideas to pursue, with an emphasis on collaboration and a commitment to inclusivity.

We are currently working on a number of initiatives that new YTs will help grow and deliver. Applicants should be excited to grow their skills and be interested in organising and delivering in-person workshops with local communities and/or young people, creating social media reels, reaching new audiences and challenging architectural culture.

Our current workstreams explore the following themes; inclusive play space, platforming students and practitioners from immigrant and diasporic backgrounds, and exploring the intersection between space and queerness.

We particularly welcome applications from individuals from underrepresented groups, whether that be in terms of race, religion, social class, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic

The ‘young’ in ‘young trustee’ refers to the position in your career, not your age. Only early career professionals will be considered.

Application Process To apply, send us a CV and answer a few questions, including outlining how you could contribute to and shape our existing programming through our online application form. Applications must be received by Monday 5th May 2025 at 6pm.

Applicants invited for interview should be available on Sunday 1st June 2025 for an online interview.

The role starts in June and Young Trustees are expected to fullfil a 2 year tenure.

If you have any questions, please email youngtrustees@architecturefoundation.org.uk
