It is highly likely that issues of respect are present in your workplace right now. Despite your familiarity with colleagues or the presence of relevant policies, recent data uncovers a shocking picture.  A significant number of UK workers, particularly women, are impacted by sexual harassment. A recent survey conducted by the Trades Union Congress (TUC) in 2022 found that close to half of women working in the UK construction sector have encountered some form of sexual harassment.

In the Built Environment, the lack of women in senior roles needs to be addressed urgently and lip service must be replaced with tangible actions. Women need to be heard at the top and be a part of decision-making to effect real change in the industry. How can there be a diversity of opinions if senior representation is not representative?
