We are looking for a Bid Writer/New Projects Co-ordinator to undertake tasks related to new business and to contribute to the writing and editing of texts for bids and submissions. This is an exciting role for someone who loves writing, researching, and thinking about architecture.
This role will be responsible for producing high quality copy for UK and international bid submissions. We are a busy studio, pursuing a diverse range of typologies, located predominantly in the UK, Europe and the US, but also worldwide. David Chipperfield Architects is a leading international architectural practice, and this role is based in London.
The role would suit someone who has strong writing skills, meticulous attention to detail and an interest in architecture or design. A proven ability to work to deadline and a pragmatic approach to organisation and work planning are important to this role. Familiarity with Microsoft Office is essential, and Adobe InDesign is desirable.
This full time, permanent role is ideal for someone who enjoys researching and writing, both academic and pragmatic texts and is interested in the business generation side of architecture and design. Responsibilities
Writing: Research, write, proof and edit texts for bids and submissions on a range of topics relating to architecture and design. The ideal candidate will be able to write both academic and pragmatic texts and be able to tailor texts to different readers’ perspectives. Texts will include project descriptions, as well as information on topics such as sustainability, reuse, project delivery, and keeping staff CV’s up to date.
Bid Co-ordination tasks:
Maintain, update and refine a library of standard texts, project and practice information for bids.
Research new project opportunities and prepare summary documents as well as intelligence relating to new potential projects.
Collect information and layout documents.
Support the team with preparing bid and tender responses and competition documentation using Adobe InDesign.
Database management and entry: Setting up and maintaining records of all new potential projects enquiries using a digital database (Rapport).
Diary management, preparing meeting agendas, minutes and disseminating actions to the team in relation to new projects.
Maintaining an asset library of relevant submission documents, previous successful responses, feedback, company information, and other related certificates and records.
Requirements:
Essential
Educated to degree level ideally with a degree in a writing discipline such as English, Journalism or alternatively a degree related to architecture and design.
Fluent spoken and written English with excellent English language writing and editing skills, both technical and non-technical are essential including the ability to create a compelling narrative.
Strong research and communication skills.
An attitude that is enthusiastic, and self-motivated, with an attention to detail and a meticulous approach to work.
Exceptional organisational and administrative skills and the ability to manage a diverse range of tasks.
Able to work effectively under time pressure, with an ability to manage multiple submissions concurrently.
Software: MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), nice to have: InDesign
